“For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Isreal, ‘In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.’” - Isaiah 30:15 As someone who enjoys hustle and bustle, I often ignore the signs of burn-out or fatigue until it’s too late—and then epic spiritual, emotional, and sometimes physical meltdowns follow. It’s a cycle my husband has called me out on over the years, and one I’m actively working to break. Making good use of our time is a spiritual requirement, but overexerting, never saying “no”, losing precious family and God time is not. Instead, I am now actively working to create blank, empty spaces in my calendar to allow God to fulfi ll as He sees fit.

One guardrail my family has established is Sunday Sabbath days—we do not commit to anything on Sundays unless it fulfi lls our requirements—church, family time, little use of technology, and rest. By creating an empty day in our week (empty in terms of little plans), we have allowed ourselves time to be fi lled with the Lord, our love as a family, and rest—all things vital for our family to make it week to week. Look over your week this week—where can you leave a blank spot? What needs to be erased and nothing penned in? How can you create empty places to be filled by the Lord?

If you are ever feeling empty, mundane, or stuck in the season you are in, know that you are not alone sweet friend. Today's key verse is simple but powerful, "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps (Proverbs 16:9)." This verse is a gentle reminder for us to submit ourselves to God's will but we also have a choice to make daily with our actions, words, habits, and routines. We are reminded today of the truth that we learned last week - our prayers will help us discern our purpose so we can follow His plans for how to lead our lives well! Getting ready for Easter? As women, we are naturally social beings. We are the keepers of the schedule and the calendar. God created us to be caregivers of our flock but all of this giving can leave us with an empty, burned-out feeling. Sweet sisters, this is not the way our Father wants us to feel. He longs to share His peace with us. Today, we share how we can make time for Jesus in our schedules, even if it's just five minutes here or there. To study online with us, join us here. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christen-ridley-price/message…

This week, we are looking at how the word empty means "lacking meaning or sincerity." In this week's devotional, Megan focuses on social media and how now is the time to take a radical step back or step away from an article that will leave us feeling less than or discouraged. We know many of you are currently in a digital detox and it can be hard to fight the need to scroll. We encourage you to fill that time instead by going on a walk, listening to a great audiobook, or taking a few moments to explore your key verse scripture for the week! Join us in our online study of Lent here. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christen-ridley-price/message…

Welcome to the first Sunday of Lent! I n today's podcast, we look closer at our key verse, 1 Peter 1:13: "Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ." We encourage you to think this week about what it means to "prepare our minds for action" as we move forward this week. How can we switch our mindset and empty our thoughts at the foot of the cross? If you'd like to join us inside our online community for Lent, it's not too late! We are just getting started and would LOVE to have you! Friends, you are NOT going to want to miss today's interview with Spiritual Director, Amy Brady. This episode COMPLETELY blew me away! Amy shares such wisdom about the importance of Lent; how it's not so much about your own self-discipline but rather about releasing control over all.the.things and drawing near to Jesus. This interview is a great listen as you prepare your heart for Ash Wednesday and to really think about what you want to "give up" or "take on" this Lenten season. Amy's advice about the posture of our hearts is truly profound and I enjoyed listening to her viewpoint about God's character and love for us. In today’s podcast, I share a talk I gave last Christmas at Crosspoint Church in Niceville, Florida. We talk about what it really means to have it all this Christmas, and how to not miss the joy. When we can stop and recognize the holiness of the night and put ourselves in the smelly manger surrounded by animals, we can see the work of God, not only in the Christmas story but also in our own lives. Because God draws us into His presence in the most unexpected and unconventional ways, we become silent in the night, waiting for the first cry of a child coming out of his mother’s womb so that we might be delivered from discontent. God gives us babies to change hearts and God ultimately delivered us with the birth of Jesus. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christen-ridley-price/message…

In this episode, we share more about the finances and fundraising side of adopting, and what it was like to meet our child and his birth parents . Our journey to Utah was very isolating and hard but we were surrounded by some pretty mighty prayer warriors that kept us focused on God during difficult times. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christen-ridley-price/message…

In today’s podcast, we talk in-depth about how we first made the decision to adopt (one month after we had decided that adoption was not in our future), and why we chose to work with FAC (Faithful Adoption Consultants) through our adoption journey. We talk about things you need to know as you begin the adoption process, things like preparing for your home study, creating a profile book, and the matching process. We also go deep and share how heavy our hearts were each time we were sent a potential case for adoption and how crushed we were when one potential match failed. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christen-ridley-price/message…

At Covenant United Methodist Church’s Spring Gathering, my sweet friend Megan Cosby shared her story of losing her infant daughter, Ellis Ann. October is National Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month and we wanted to share her story today in hope that it can be a source of healing for others who have also experienced the loss of a child. Megan and her husband David are the creators of the EAC Foundation , which inspires women and raises funds for Children’s Cardiomyopathy research in honor of sweet Ellis Ann. This podcast also shares the truth of Psalm 34:18 and how God is near to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christen-ridley-price/message…

In today’s message, I will be sharing with you how we are a society that is consumed with busyness, which is leading us to experience burnout. Trust me when I say I know a thing of two about burnout - it’s been one of the most challenging obstacles that has prevented me from truly experiencing the love that God has for me. In a world full of rush, we must find time to rest in God. We will dig deeper into scripture and how Jesus taught us the importance of rest. When we rest in Him, we lead our families, colleagues, communities, and churches with love. Also, at the end of today’s message, I share the introduction devotion and challenge from our new Undivided Prayer audiobook. You can download your free goal setting worksheet in today’s blog post at christenprice.com. Lent is just around the corner and we want to encourage you to draw closer to Jesus with our devotional, Undivided Prayer. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christen-ridley-price/message…

In today’s podcast, you will get a chance to listen to why women struggle with not feeling enough and how Christ gives us strength in the areas of our lives that we feel the most shame. We discuss what it looks like to practice spiritual order and how God promises to provide us everything we need to live full, satisfied lives. You will also get a chance to listen to my interview with Hollie Wynn, who shares her story on why she got breast implants and then chose to have them removed. We all have our own struggles with not feeling enough with our bodies and she has an encouraging message of what it means to listen to your body and love yourself at any size. We pray that this message will remind you that “hope does not put us to shame.” --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christen-ridley-price/message…

In today’s podcast, we learn how we are connected to our families by living in community, just like trees in the forest. We have been given people to love so we can get a glimpse of God’s great love for us. From the shoot to the stump, may we continue to place our hope in our Redeemer, even if we can’t see what lies underneath the soil. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christen-ridley-price/message…

Creation was made to worship God. We see this through the creation story and how not only did God make the universe to worship Him, but He made you and I for worship. Sabbath is part of the creation story, what God did on the seventh day not because He needed rest but to model a behavior of rest to us, His chosen and loved people. While my sabbatical has been an extended break over the summer, my hope is to continue this action of pressing pause once a week as my family transitions out of summer and into our fall schedule. Even though my sabbatical has come to an end, I look forward to receiving the gift of Sabbath in the weeks ahead. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christen-ridley-price/message…

Lent. Maybe you already know quite a bit about this liturgical practice, or maybe you have no idea where to begin. Lent can mean different things to different people- no chocolate, no TV, more time praying, more church — or it can mean absolutely nothing. We are so excited to explore this deeply meaningful season with you- we intend to help you grow during this season right alongside you! A quick history of what Lent is — Lent is the 40 days (minus Sundays!) before Easter. Lent commemorates the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert fasting before beginning His public ministry. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Saturday (the day before Easter). There are three components to Lent — almsgiving, fasting, and prayer. Lent is meant to be a time of reflection and solitude—many churches do not allow weddings and other celebrations in their sanctuaries and campuses during Lent. The whole purpose is not to deny oneself of something yearned for, but to prepare one’s heart for the coming of the Messiah, reflection and repentance of sins, and diving daily into the Word to grow closer to His Heart. If you are overwhelmed by the thought of practicing Lent for the first time or still are not sure about your Lenten practice, do not fret. Take it one step at a time, and start small. Maybe pick one of the three Lenten practices to observe this year, and build upon your practice next year. Do what you are comfortable with, but more importantly, do what you feel Christ is leading you to do. The journey of Lent is about deepening our spiritual practice and drawing closer to Him, not checklists or to do’s. We are excited for you, sister. We’ve already been praying for you along this journey. We know the Lord is going to speak to you during this season, and we can’t wait to hear about it. This week we explore the fourth candle of Advent, peace, by looking at the thoughts of Mary as she stepped into her calling with purpose. We are all unworthy to receive God’s blessings based upon our own efforts. However, the Holy Spirit draws our barren souls to holiness. We are worthy to live set-apart, holy lives, filled with God’s blessings, because of the power of the Holy Spirit working on our behalf. God gave us the Sabbath to rest and rejoice in Him Let us celebrate Advent together by resting in the truth that we were created to place our identity in Christ so we can receive hope, faith, joy, and peace. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christen-ridley-price/message…

Welcome to the Third Sunday of Advent! This week we light the pink candle, otherwise known as the symbol of "Joy". The third candle of Advent is also known as the Shepherd Candle and reflects the joy that comes through Jesus' arrival, and through the salvation he has gifted us. The third Sunday traditionally recalls John the Baptizer's call for repentance. It has been identified in some traditions as "Gaudete," a day of joy and rejoicing. As this year draws to a close, we want to invite you to attend our New Year's Reset Session on Saturday, January 7 from 9-12 p.m. in Dothan, Alabama. Our Guidebook 101 is included in the session fee, along with a mindset and movement session with Valerie Thompson." Hello friends! Welcome to the second week of Advent! This week we are diving deeper into the Faith candle. It is called the "Bethlehem Candle" as a reminder of Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem. In our Guided Advent Devotional, The Weary World Rejoices, we look at how with faith comes the practice of patience and preparation. We invite you to read Isaiah 9:6-7 and reflect on the words Isaiah uses to describe Jesus. In today's podcast, I am delighted to share my interview with Laura Loewen, my new friend from Flint, Michigan. I "met" Laura through Instagram and I wish we lived closer to have more fun conversations about things like 90's rap dance moves (just you wait!). In our discussion, we talk about ways to keep the Christmas season simple and special. Laura shares what Advent means to her and how her church prepares for the busy holiday season by #connectionnotperfection. I really think you guys are going to love today's interview! What is Advent, exactly? We celebrate it every year, but to some, it just means a time of busyness, stress, and frantic holiday preparations. That is quite the opposite of what Advent means. The word “Advent” in ancient Latin means “arrival.” It’s a time to prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus—in the quiet way Jesus came, as a lowly baby, in a small stable in the middle of nowhere. Advent is all about making room—for King Jesus, what His birth meant, and what started the greatest Redemption story of all. We understand the busyness of the Christmas season. As wives and moms who work outside the home, we too feel exhausted trying to do all the things so our families can have the best Christmas memories. We have noticed that while we both love the month of December, we become weary as the days go by because we are out of our daily routine and structure. The Lord has been teaching us (now more than ever) how honoring the Sabbath in our family’s schedule will help us enjoy our weekly activities from a posture of peace instead of anxiety. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christen-ridley-price/message…

Right now, our world is in chaos and confusion over the announcement of the Coronavirus pandemic. To be honest, these are times of uncertainty and just one trip to Target with no toilet paper on the aisles leaves us all feeling anxious and confused. This Lent, I’ve been reading a study on Jeremiah and it’s CRAZY how relatable it is to our current global climate right now. Jeremiah (also known as “the weeping prophet”) was chosen by God to announce the destruction of Judah. Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, was sent by God to attack Jerusalem, not so the people would suffer but so that they would seek Him with all their hearts. In today’s podcast, I’m digging deeper into the scripture of Jeremiah and ask this question: What voice will you listen to in times of chaos? The voice of the enemy is always a voice of fear. His number one goal is to cause you and me to doubt God. The enemy condemns us and wants to steal everything we care about. But the voice of God is one that always offers peace. The book of Jeremiah shows us how God will always keep his promises to us and how He listens to us when we pray. Listen with me today and stay tuned until the end to receive five ways to find peace in our daily (uncertain) routines. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christen-ridley-price/message…

In this week’s episode, we wrap up this series by talking more in-depth about what our bi-racial adoption is teaching us about love. Bringing Raleigh James into our home has brought our family so much joy. He is loved and shows us love every day. As we chat about what life has been like the past few months as we’ve adjusted to life with a newborn, Raleigh also shares some answers to some commonly asked questions. We hope you enjoy this final interview as we end our series on what adoption has been teaching us.
