At the dawn of the social media era, Belle Gibson became a pioneering wellness influencer - telling the world how she beat cancer with an alternative diet. Her bestselling cookbook and online app provided her success, respect, and a connection to the cancer-battling influencer she admired the most. But a curious journalist with a sick wife began asking questions that even those closest to Belle began to wonder. Was the online star faking her cancer and fooling the world? Kaitlyn Dever stars in the Netflix hit series Apple Cider Vinegar . Inspired by true events, the dramatized story follows Belle’s journey from self-styled wellness thought leader to disgraced con artist. It also explores themes of hope and acceptance - and how far we’ll go to maintain it. In this episode of You Can't Make This Up, host Rebecca Lavoie interviews executive producer Samantha Strauss. Writing Poetry – A Griever’s Friend Seven years into Mike Berhardt’s marriage, his wife died. Writing poetry became a means to express his deep loss on paper. Reaching out to other grievers, Mike found that, like himself, many others also expressed their experience through poetry. He compiled his first book of poems, Voices of the Grieving Heart . Thirty years later, during COVID, he gathered more poems and re-contacted the original contributors to hear about their grief journeys 30 years later. These reflections resulted in a second addition of his book. Hear Mike’s story, his poems, the poems of other contributors and Mike’s thoughts on the sixth stage of grief, Finding Meaning . https://mikebernhardt.net/…

Katie will also reflect upon why we might want to consider last words and how the concept of a living memorial might impact our own last chapter. https://tellmenow.ca/…
