In this passage Aristotle raises the question 'what makes a number one?' As previously said, he makes an analogy between number and definition. Thus, this passage also raises a question as to what makes a definition one. He seems to suggest that just like definition and number, substantial form is also one. But the one that substantial form is is not in the way in which something is one in virtue of being a unite (monas), but rather is one as complete and actuality and as some sort of nature.
