You're listening to Bardtenders! In this episode of "The Mixing Glass", Sherri Jenkins discusses what it's like to work as both a Licenesed Professional Clinical Counselor and a bartender. She discusses the overlap of both jobs and the need for access to mental health for hospitality professionals. Sherri Jenkins is leading the charge towards bringing awareness to mental health struggles in the industry.
------------

Sherri Jenkins is breaking barriers in both the mental health and service industry realms. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor - (LPCC-S), Reiki II practitioner, MiNDFest Sponsorship Committee Member and award-winning bartender, Sherri saw a need for mental health support and care in the service industry. So much so, she became the Conflict Resolution Officer & Wellness Chair for the Kentucky Chapter of the US Bartenders Guild. Merging her diverse expertise, Sherri created a transformative approach to destigmatizing mental health behind the bar.

Through a unique blend of consulting services evaluating the infrastructure of organizations, community-based pop-ups, public speaking engagements and conflict mediation, she empowers individuals and establishments alike to prioritize mental health and foster a culture of support. Her work equips teams with the tools they need to navigate the challenges of their industry.

Recognizing a lack of diverse spaces in her community, she organizes events that serve as platforms for education, connection, and breaking down the isolation that can often accompany mental health struggles in the service industry. Sherri believes in a future where everyone can thrive – particularly those behind the stick.
