Sermon: Knowing Your Enemy and Exercising Your Authority...
Scripture: Luke 10:17-20
17The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
18He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.19I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.20However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

Demons do exist.
The thief comes to kill, steal, and destroy... John 10:10
Demons really do possess people.
A man in the crowd answered, "Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech."
Mark 9:17
Demons are subject to the authority of Jesus.
I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
Luke 10:18
When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. "You deaf and mute spirit," he said, "I command you, come out of him and never enter him again."
Mark 9:25
We've been given authority over demons.
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
Luke 10:19
"He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness"
Matt. 10:1
And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

How do we take authority over demons?
- Come under authority by submitting totally to God. (James 4:7)
- Resist the devil by using the word of God and the name of Jesus.
Conclusion: Today, choose to take authority over the enemy and continue to stand firm in the faith.
