Award winning British food writer Nigel Slater shares a year’s worth of his grocery shopping, cooking and entertaining. For example, under the New Year’s Day entry, “A Day of Hope and Hot Soup.” His recipes are arranged by season. There are 300 recipes; 100 of them are vegetarian friendly. This is volume 1 of a four book series. It’s a diary, not a cookbook. There’s an entry for every day of the year. Sometimes it’s just about what he grew in his garden or what he shopped for. You can read through it from beginning to end, and likely want to cook a lot of the dishes in it along the way! Nigel enjoys food, and makes it easy for us to make enjoyable food in our homes.
