We live in a culture where we are learning all the time that our ego identity can be secured by someone else saying the right thing or doing the right thing to make us feel worthy. For example, if someone says we are beautiful or we are a great worker, it gives us a high like a drug.

But the problem is that the high is temporary and it’s always followed by a crash, leaving us wanting more of the same drug. Depending on these highs to find any sort of stability creates an epidemic of mental ill health. And we keep trying to heal our fragile ego identity by looking for more of the same drug to feed into this unsustainable system.

So if nice words, praise and compliments aren't healing this fragile ego entity, how is it healed? This is what we are looking at in today’s episode.

What is Covered:

-Why it is that nobody can fill the sense of lack of our vulnerable ego identity

-How we can approach compliments and nice words instead

-What our idea of ourselves actually represents

-What true healing is and when it can start taking place

-The value of emotional turmoil and the meaning of shame

-Healing process as the peak experience
