Dr. Allen Greenfield is an American occultist, writer, and ceremonial magician. He is well-known for his significant contributions to various esoteric and occult traditions, including Thelema, Hermeticism, and Freemasonry. Greenfield, born on March 8, 1946, in Augusta, Georgia, has gained recognition for his extensive involvement with the Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO). This organization, founded by Aleister Crowley, follows the principles of Thelema. He was initiated into the OTO in 1965 and eventually reached the esteemed ninth degree, the Sovereign Sanctuary of the Gnosis. This accomplishment made him a prominent figure within the OTO community. He has dedicated his efforts to writing extensively about Thelemic magick and its intricate connections with Freemasonry.
Greenfield has also been involved in various Masonic organizations, including the Memphis Misraim Rite. He has written extensively on the history and practice of the Memphis Misraim Rite and has been involved in various Obediences that practice the rite.
In addition to his involvement in occult and esoteric organizations, Greenfield has achieved notable success as a prolific writer. He has authored numerous books and articles on various occult and esoteric subjects. His writings have covered many topics, including UFOs, the paranormal, and alternative spirituality. He is perhaps best known for his book "The Story of the Hermetic Brotherhood of Luxor," which explores the history and practices of the Hermetic Brotherhood of Luxor, an occult organization from the 19th century. This group had a significant influence on the development of Thelemic magick.
