“A Child is Born, A Son is Given”
Today’s reading from Isaiah 9:2-7 paints a beautiful picture of hope fulfilled in the birth of Jesus Christ. Written 700 years before the first Christmas morning, this prophecy celebrates the arrival of a light that shatters darkness, a child born to bring freedom, justice, and everlasting peace. He is the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.
Isaiah’s words remind us of the deep anticipation and longing for the Messiah, a hope that sustained God’s people through generations. This same hope is ours to embrace today. Amid the busyness and distractions of the season, we’re invited to pause and rediscover the pure joy of Christmas—our salvation through Jesus.
