When a young Eva Kollisch arrives as a refugee in New York in 1940, she finds a community among socialists who share her values and idealism. She soon discovers ‘the cause’ isn’t as idyllic as it seems. Little does she know this is the beginning of a lifelong commitment to activism and her determination to create radical change in ways that include belonging, love and one's full self. In addition to Eva Kollisch’s memoirs Girl in Movement (2000) and The Ground Under My Feet (2014), LBI’s collections include an oral history interview with Eva conducted in 2014 and the papers of Eva’s mother, poet Margarete Kolllisch, which document Eva’s childhood experience on the Kindertransport. Chaye is an MX Instructor, Model, Entrepreneur, and Author from Sydney, Australia. Her new book, 'Chaye Unfolding' is a memoir that details her transition from male to female.
In today's Podcast, we have an open and honest chat about this transition. Hopefully, we can all learn lessons from Chaye's story, such as the importance of self-awareness, being true to ourselves and how change is sometimes the necessary pain we must go through if we want a different outcome.
Chaye is so much more than her gender and her trans-activation ... in the same that I'm much more than my job title and you are more than the colour of your skin... labels are by their nature reductive. We talk briefly about the label of being a trans-woman and how that affects old and new relationships, we also both share words of wisdom from Alan Watts and we talk MX, nutrition, wellness and more. So... I think to be happy we need to be free and we need to think clearly! Postmodern tribalism and being too woke can seem kind.. but it's dangerous for society. Here's a short video on the matter.
