"I think one of my favorite aspects of Akron Roundtable is that you often attend a luncheon with a pre-determined mindset on what you will hear; only to be taken in a completely different direction by the speaker. One such talk that stands out in my mind was given by David Adkins, Executive Director, Council of State Governments. David was asked to come to Akron to talk about the mission of the Council of State Governments and to talk about the issues States currently face. Instead, David provided an inspiring and motivational talk following the tragic Boston Marathon bombing that occurred on April 15, 2013, only three days prior to his Akron Roundtable speech. He implored the audience to become an agent of change in their community and to ask themselves “what are you willing to run to?” I hope this talk inspires you to think about your role as our country faces crises."
David Adkins, a former Kansas state senator, leads The Council of State Governments as its executive director and CEO.
