In this first episode, we talk about why we're starting our podcast.

Leo remembers the comfort of the spoken word on radio in trying to escape the fear of night-time silence as an undiagnosed autistic kid. Whilst Siana thinks about her own childhood discomfort with speaking out, and why sometimes staying quiet can be a survival response for a child living an autistic experience.

As these conversations unfold, we make new connections and re-frame our narratives, and we hope that this might have a similar effect on our listeners.

We talk about how autistic people might find validation and familiarity in our experiences, and how non-autistic people might recognise and better understand autistic people in their lives.

We also begin to explore how being #actuallyautistic therapists influences our work, and why autistic-to-autistic therapy is so important.

Plus, what is “autistic communication” anyway?
