Welcome to our fifth episode of The Lovely Book of the Day podcast! I’m your host Carrie, from the Lovely Living blog. I have another beautiful book suggestion for you today.
It’s a busy Tuesday, a workday for many of us, so today I want to mention a book that we can just flip through and enjoy and not have to “finish” or commit to like some of the books we can read all in one weekend day.
This is a lovely coffee table book but also a cookbook, a memoir and travelogue. There are portrait photos, plus scenic and still life photography from the South of France.
I’ve never been to the South of France (it’s definitely a bucket list trip, high up on my travel priorities) so for now I can enjoy it through the eyes and words of Jamie Beck.
The four chapters are arranged by season, beginning with Autumn. The book includes a French glossary. There are quite a few artistic photographs of the author in dreamy, flowing dresses, as well as enchanting scenes of the countryside, villages and quaint stone houses. There are recipes in each chapter for rustic French food, some of them pretentious and some of them approachable. This is a nice way to explore a French village lifestyle from the comfort of my own bland suburban home.
