Welcome to episode 5 of Next of Kin: Parents Podcast! I'm Emma, a British Expat, and Mum of 1, living in Dubai, UAE, and this podcast follows along my own journey raising my daughter and starting my first business.
Today I am joined on the podcast by Nikki Steele aka The Scottish Soul Sister. Nikki is originally from Scotland, married to an American, she has a dog from Montenegro, and a little boy Archie who all live here in Dubai. Becoming a Mum and her experience with postnatal depression was the catalyst for Nikki to take a completely new route from hairdressing to becoming a coach, speaker, and maternal mental health advocate. The simplicity of Nikki's approach, as well as her wonderfully warm personality, is what drew me to want her to be my very first guest here on Next of Kin. She offers us a glimpse into her 10 steps which she has cleverly made into an online course Stepping Into Parenthood.
In this episode, we get chatting about some of the key pillars of positive mental health for all parents whether they are struggling with postpartum depression, anxiety or are coping just fine, there are strategies, tools, and support that you can implement for yourself to build a mental health or self-care toolkit.
