In this episode of Physique Science Radio we talk to Dr. Mike Zourdos, a professor of exercise science at Florida Atlantic University regarding his research on periodization training. Topics covered include an introduction to what periodization is, how to utilize it, and what factors influence strength and muscle hypertrophy with regards to weight training. This is an interview you do NOT want to miss. It will change the way you think about training. In addition to being a very smart guy. Dr. Zourdos is also an accomplish powerlifter as well, having qualified for and competed at the USAPL Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Pro Raw Power Challenge and squatted 507 lbs at a bodyweight of approximately 170 lbs. Almost a 3x bodyweight squat!
