Episode 71: Native with Kaitlin Curtice
Manage episode 261561488 series 2286887
Kaitlin Curtice joins Lindsy and Kayla with a conversation that is both a gentle challenge and a balm of encouragement. Kaitlin is a citizen of the Potawatomi Nation, a Christian, and a poet who speaks on faith and justice within the church as it relates to Indigenous peoples. Her newest book, Native: Identity, Belonging, and Rediscovering God came out just last week.
In this episode, we:
- Ask how justice feels, even when it’s not labeled Christian
- Hold up the communion table as a political space
- Unpack how to listen to voices who have been silenced
- Lean into ambiguity and how to listen to God
- Honor the people who are doing the work of the church
Kaitlin is a monthly columnist for Sojourners and her work has been featured on OnBeing, Religion News Service, CBS, USA Today, and The New Yorker.
Join us as we work to be people who hold space for truth-telling. May we be ever aware of our inner-child so we can lean into asking questions without receiving answers immediately. Maybe then, we are able to be full of hope.
