Main Point: God is glorified when the power He demonstrates is accepted as His.

1. Jesus’ demonstration of power.

• Luke 11:14a Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke
• Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
• Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

2. The multitude delighted at the miracle.

• Luke 11:14b When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed.
• John 1:11-12 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—
• John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

3. A blasphemous declaration.

• Luke 11:15 But some of them said, “By Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons.”
• Luke 12:10“And anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven.
• Romans 1:21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
