On the 81st episode of the Jiu-Jitsu Outlet show, I get to chat with 10th planet Jiu-Jitsu black belt PJ Barch.
PJ grew up training in wrestling and found it to be a fantastic outlet for himself as a child. Dealing with bullying growing up, PJ was left feeling insecure in his ability to defend himself. After training in wrestling, this changed.
Years later, now a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu under the legendary Eddie Bravo, PJ has gone onto become one of the best grapplers on planet earth.
In this episode, PJ Barch shares his journey from an insecure young kid into a veteran of ADCC, Quintet, and some of the toughest grappling events in the world.
We talk about the lessons he has learned from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling and we dive into how competing in high level tournaments like ADCC impacted his mental health.
PJ gets vulnerable in this conversation and shares about the difficulties he has had with OCD and addiction. If you or someone you know has struggled with this before, make sure you watch and share this episode.
Thank you to PJ Barch for sharing his story and helping us better understand how combat martial arts influence mental health and life off the mats.
