Anorexia nervosa is a life-threatening illness that is challenging to treat and can be overwhelming for families seeking help. The Minnesota starvation study dating to the 1950’s showed without any doubt that starvation causes psychological as well as physical symptoms – symptoms that mirror symptoms of individuals with anorexia.
