In this episode of the Neuroscience Informed Christian Counseling podcast, we explore the delicate yet impactful skill of Self-Disclosure, drawn from the NICC Basic Training course. Self-Disclosure involves the care provider sharing their personal experiences to build connection, foster trust, and support the participant’s healing process. By carefully and judiciously sharing insights from their own life, the care provider helps participants feel understood and validated, while modeling vulnerability and openness.
Learn how to use Self-Disclosure to deepen the therapeutic relationship, normalize participants' experiences, and guide them towards greater growth. This episode emphasizes the importance of using Self-Disclosure sparingly and always in service of the participant's journey.
