During the discussion, we dive into the three-step process of mindfulness and explore how the awe method can be harnessed to reset the nervous system. Michael highlights how practicing awe for as little as 10-15 seconds, three times a day, can significantly decrease anxiety, depression, and burnout. Dr. Michael Amster is a physician, mindfulness teacher, and researcher at UC Berkeley's Greater Good Science Center. He specializes in pain management and is the founding director of the department at Santa Cruz Community Health. With over 30 years of meditation practice, he is a certified yoga and meditation teacher, and he leads awe-inspiring retreats around the world. Dr. Amster's research focuses on the power of awe to improve mental health and well-being.
