Staying Sober Through Adversity with Doug Dolan
Manage episode 331093731 series 2839152
My guest today is Doug Dolan who has been sober for over 25 years now and is a role model for how to go through anything that life has to throw at us and still stay sober through it all. He’s also had lots of achievements that we’ll hear about today.
Doug Dolan began his journey in recovery on April 19, 1997 and has been through many challenges in sobriety including the passing of his brother, Andy, to an overdose, the loss of his closest, childhood friend, Craig, to suicide, to extreme financial highs and lows, almost losing his wife, Donna, to significant health issues, and then managing through significant marital strains. Doug remained sober throughout these extreme ordeals and now shares his experience and practical approach to healing and transformation.
Doug has started and owned a variety of businesses after working his way up through a computer software company to being a VP of Marketing. Halfway thought this meteoric rise to VP he was still a blackout binge drinker and totaled a car as the result of a DUI on a business trip. This is what brought him to his knees and he got the help he needed to quit drinking.
Doug has been married since 2000 and has 3 children (2 biological and 1 adopted), and he is also a devout Christian.
He sits on city and county committees with various heads of law enforcement, courts, attorney's office, undercover LEO, DEA, and other health care professionals. He was part of a small group of selected professionals (the only one in the recovery community) from northern AZ to go through training with the DEA and now participates in events with them, does interviews and speaking engagements in support of their initiatives in Arizona.
