在這個講求效率的時代裡，什麼都要「快」。餐廳追求出餐速度和翻桌率，電商追求出貨速度和周轉率，製造業當然也不例外要追求生產速度和良率來實現資本支出所產生收益的最大化。從十幾年前就開始出現的機器人將取代人力的說法雖然還沒真正實現，但特定類型的工廠已經很大程度的自動化，「關燈工廠」、「黑暗工廠」正是趨勢。
