Yet another podcast where a large chunk of it is taken up by Peter talking about Diastasis Recti.
There seems to be a BIG misconception about whether exercise can make your diastasis recti worse or not.
Some studies are now claiming that "No, certain exercises (sit-ups/crunches etc) can not make DR worse." whereas the commonly held "belief" said that they can.
Peter talks about exactly what the problem is here;
The DEFINITION of diastasis recti is not broad enough.
As Peter explains; ALL exercise can make diastasis worse. And, at the same time, NO exercises can actually make diastasis worse.
It all depends on how you perform the exercises and what you actually class as diastasis recti.
The definition of diastasis recti, as used by a lot of post-natal personal trainers and physios, does not go far enough and is not broad enough. If you do not include muscle functionality in your definition you're missing a massive, and very important, chunk of what diastasis recti actually is. And this is what causes some people to not see any results when they try a post-partum program.
This, once again, is the difference between working with a geniune expert and "someone who also does post-natal stuff".

In the news this week; Peter touches on the tragedy with Peloton treadmills.
In case you were not aware, these things are NOT safe to be used around small children or animals. In fact, Peter thinks Peloton is irresponsible for not issuing a warning to all their users and giving all their customers the option of a refund or a fix.
